If you lost your progress, ran into a game-breaking progression bug, or want to skip ahead to your favorite level, using a 100% complete save file is the easiest fix.
Follow this guide to locate your save directory and install the downloaded profile data safely on Windows 10 or Windows 11.
Step 1: Locate Your Game Directory Path
Depending on where you bought Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, your save files will be stored in one of the following directories. Copy the correct path below and paste it into your Windows File Explorer address bar:
For Steam Version
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Prince of Persia The Sands of Time\Profiles\
For GOG (Good Old Games) Version
C:\GOG Games\Prince of Persia The Sands of Time\Profiles\
For Original CD/Retail & Older Versions

Step 2: How to Install the Downloaded Save Files
1.Backup your current saves:Highly Recommended.
Before touching anything, copy your existing Profiles folder and paste it somewhere safe, like your Desktop. If something goes wrong, you won’t lose your original data.
2.Extract the downloaded ZIP file:
Right-click the downloaded save file folder from our site and select Extract All. Inside, you should see a folder named after the in-game profile (e.g., Player or Prince). Inside that folder, you will see files ending in .sav.
3.Paste the folder into ‘Profiles’:
Copy the entire extracted profile folder and paste it directly into the game’s Profiles folder that you located in Step 1.
4.Launch the game and load profile:
Start the game. In the main menu, go to Profile Management, select the newly added profile name, and hit load. You can now access all the specific level save checkpoints!

Because The Sands of Time is a classic title, modern operating systems can sometimes prevent save files from loading properly. Try these quick fixes if you run into trouble:
Saves Not Appearing? Ensure you didn’t accidentally create a double-nested folder structure when extracting. The path must look exactly like this: …\Profiles\ProfileName\savefiles.sav.
Administrator Permissions: If your game is installed inside Program Files (x86), Windows security may block the game from reading newly pasted files. Right-click your PrinceOfPersia.exe file, select Properties > Compatibility, and check Run this program as an administrator.
Steam Cloud Conflict: If Steam keeps deleting or overwriting your newly pasted files with your old cloud data, turn off Steam Cloud temporarily. Right-click the game in your Steam Library -> Properties -> Toggle off Keep games saves in the Steam Cloud.
